Camp SiteWe left Minnesota on Thursday, Sept 5th, to make our way back to Cincinnati for our nephew’s wedding and also a visit with Zach and Lauren.  Our first stop was in Rockford, IL at a state park we have stayed at several times, Rock Cut State Park.  Lovely Park with great hiking and biking.  In the three days we stayed we got in several miles of hiking each day and also made sure we got in some good biking.  It is nice now to be able to take Lily along when we go biking.  She loves sitting in her basket and just watches everything go by.  She is also a great little hiker but if she gets tired it is easy enough to carry a 10lb dog.

Our CampsiteFrom Rockford we travel to Le Roy, IL and stayed four nights at Moraine View State Park.  There was hardly anyone at this park so it was very peaceful with its many huge trees for shade which we really needed with the temperatures in the mid to high 90’s.  There was a nice road around the lake which we drove but would have loved to have biked if the weather would have cooperated.  This is an interesting park because out of the 100 plus sites maybe 10 were level enough to park our 5th wheel.  When we first got there we moved three times before we could really get level and then the second day  with it being 93 outside we blew the electrical box and had to move a fourth time.  It all worked out because we ended up with a beautiful site under a huge shade tree which was much appreciated when the outside temp hit 97.

We are looking forward to cooler temperatures and seeing Joe’s family and Zach and Lauren in Cincinnati.

Stay safe and cool!
