Two Questions

Two Questions

On Our Minds
Joe and I are starting our 6th year of full-timing.  It is so hard to believe!  It seems like yesterday we sold our house and moved into our home on wheels.  As we have travelled the country and tell people we meet that we are full-timers we get asked the same questions: how do you like it? how long have we been full-timing? how many states we have visited?  what is our favorite state? how do we get our mail? are we afraid to stay in certain places?   These are asked over and over again but while we were at one of the state parks in Georgia we were asked two questions from two different individuals that we have never been asked and both questions were surprising.  One gave me…

State Parks
After coming back from our fabulous trip to MN we headed a little south to Denton, TX to another very nice Corp Park.  This park is about 30 miles north of Dallas and although the park was really nice and we had a nice lake site anytime you left the park we had to deal with horrible road construction.  We were both happy to leave this area after a 10 day stay and get away from the traffic and construction. We stopped at Lake Arrowhead State Park in Wichita Falls, TX for three nights.  Nice quiet park where we enjoyed watching the Prairie Dogs run around.  Caprock Canyon State Park was our next stop for 7 nights.  We picked this park for two reasons; buffalo roam freely through the park…

Campgrounds
We planned to leave for MN on Jan 14th from Oklahoma City where we had reserved a site for a month at Twin Fountains RV Resort, the same place we left the 5th wheel last year.   Travelling from AL to OKC we made a stop for two nights at a nice Corp Park in Enid, MS, Persimmons Hills, a three night stop in Little Rock, AR at Maumelle COE Park where our site overlooked the Arkansas River (beautiful) and three nights at our favorite state park in OK, Eufaula State Park.  We have stayed in this park three times every time on the same site.  At this time of the year the park is almost completely empty and the site overlooks the lake on two sides.  Love it! Baby Adalyn…

Campgrounds
After leaving SC we spent a week in two nice Georgia State Parks, Skidaway and Georgia Veterans State Park.  Both were very nice parks and would return to both.  Across the street from the entrance to Georgia Veterans State Park was a fabulous meat market someone had told us about.  We would definitely love to go back to that. We discovered before Thanksgiving that many people go camping over Holidays.  The park we stayed at for Thanksgiving was completely full with large groups enjoying their Thanksgiving dinners outside.  We made sure we had reservations for both Thanksgiving and Christmas.  We have stayed at Gunter Hills Corp of Engineers Park several years ago and loved it so that was where we spent a few weeks over Christmas and New Year.  A…

South Carolina-2016

Traveling
Our goal was to head to the ocean in South Carolina to start our winter.  But before the ocean we made a few stops.  Joe’s brother and his wife bought a second home in Nashville, TN and we wanted to stop to see the house and a short visit.  The house was beautiful and the visit was very nice.  We don’t get to see Art and Nancy very often so even a short visit is nice. We then made a few days stop in Ashville, NC to check out the city and also to visit the Biltmore House.  We were fortunate to see the Biltmore when it was decorated for Christmas.  There are 250 rooms in this estate and the ones we were able to see were amazing.  General admission…

Our Four Legged Companion – Lily

Our Four Legged Companion – Lily

Traveling
Lily had a really rough few months fighting off big dogs.  At three separate campgrounds she was attacked by big dogs.  Her first was by a golden retriever who was not on a leash ran out and jumped on her.   I think the dog wanted to play with her but scared her enough not to want to be by big dogs.  The second was a standard poodle that was tied to a lawn chair and as Lily and I walked by pulled the chair to the road and took Lily to the ground with her mouth.  Needless to say I did a lot of screaming to get the dog off her.  The last was the worse when a Rottweiler broke his leash that was tied to the picnic table, ran…

Ohio – Summer/Fall 2016

Traveling
With a new granddaughter in Ohio we made four trips to Cincinnati over the summer and fall.  After our initiate meeting of our beautiful Vivian in June we went back in August for a short visit.  She had already changed in that short period of time.  It is so hard to leave but we knew we would be back soon.   We made the trip back to see how much she had grown in Sept.  Her smile and cooing were so precious.  I tried to get in as much “grandma” time as possible.   Vivian’s baptism was Oct 9th and we were able to make one more trip to Cincinnati to enjoy the celebration with Zach and Lauren.  It was really hard to leave knowing that we wouldn’t see them again until…

Traveling
It is always wonderful to be back in MN for the summer so we can spend time with our kids and grandkids, friends and family.  We celebrated grandson Alex’s 3rd birthday in July and were able to go with Cassie and the kids to the Scott County Fair and have a really fun day.  In August we went to granddaughter Cate’s pre-school graduation.  Kindergarten is just around the corner for her.  Where did those years go?  We spent 5 days in Grand Marais, MN with Cassie, Aaron, Cate, Alex and Eric.  We will always call Grand Marais our favorite spot to camp.  Oct brought a baby shower for daughter Amanda, get-togethers with friends and family and of course, we had to take Cate and Alex to Chuck E Cheese, their…

Long Break – Back to Blogging

Long Break – Back to Blogging

On Our Minds
A BIG “Thank you” to our patient followers!   It has been a long break between our last blog and now – maybe seven months.  We had some issues last July with our blog and our web designer, son Zach, had a very good excuse not to have time to look at it.  Baby Vivian came in June and along with that came sleepless nights and long days for them.   But the wait for the new updated blog was well worth it.  Thank you Zach for all the time you put in to make our blog better for family and friends to follow us on our journey. I have written seven individual posts touching on the highlights of the last seven months.  Thank you again for being patient.
